Child Abuse Prevention Month gathers parish leaders

Parish presidents, sheriffs, judges, school representatives, and other community members gathered Monday and Tuesday to take a stand against child abuse across the tri-parish area.

Blue pinwheels have been placed in front of The Poydras Center in Pointe Coupee, the Pointe Coupee Parish Courthouse, the Iberville Parish Courthouse and the West Baton Rouge Courthouse. The pinwheels are a national symbol against child abuse.

We thank those who participated as speakers at the events, including: District Attorney Tony Clayton, Pointe Coupee Parish-President Major Thibaut, Pointe Coupee Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux, Judges Kevin Kimball and Tonya Lurry, the Pointe Coupee Early Childhood Coalition, Iberville Parish-President Chris Daigle, Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi, West Baton Rouge Parish-President Jason Manola, the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Scott Stassi with the District Attorney's Office, the Pointe Coupee Historical Society and Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana.

Special thanks to our board members, community members and child welfare representatives, including school district representatives, who attended the events.
