As we we near the holidays and the end of 2023, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the support and dedication to CASA of the 18th JDC.
It was no small feat to get here. After nearly three years and a very committed steering committee, under the direction and guidance of Kathleen Richey, we are proud to be the 18th and last CASA of the statewide organization which completes 100% coverage of CASAs across Louisiana.
Our work is just beginning, but we have already seen tremendous support across our three parishes. We have been embraced by the community as we begin this critical work of being the voice of local children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
We are excited about 2024. We will begin training volunteers who will then be appointed and assigned to cases. It's our goal to begin serving children this spring.
Our mission is clear - to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive. But we cannot do this work alone. It will take time, talent and treasure from many across our communities.
We are grateful for your support thus far and hope to work closely with you in 2024 and beyond to help CASA of the 18th JDC fulfill its vision - a world where every child in need is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing and loving home with a promising future.
I am extremely proud to serve as executive director of this organization. I have the guidance and help from an amazing Board of Directors - made up of community members from Iberville, Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge. I am eager to each of you along this journey.
I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
