Every three minutes a child enters foster care. Most children in foster care will have multiple foster homes, schools, social workers and teachers rotate through their lives, while dealing with the trauma of abuse, neglect or separation from their families. But for these children, a CASA volunteer can help improve their outcomes odds and have a life changing impact.
CASA of the 18th JDC will host its first pre-service training in January 2026. Make 2026 the year you create lasting change. By becoming a CASA volunteer, you give children in foster care the chance to experience advocacy, stability, and care.
The first step is to apply. The next steps are:
- In-person interview
- Full background screening
- 30-hour in-person pre-service training
- Quality courtroom observation
- You’re then sworn in by a judge to become a CASA advocate. That’s when you begin to make a real impact in the lives of local children.
